BLUEorange Contemporary Art Gallery investigates South Korean art world, supported by the GYE
Argent Technologies would like to congratulate Megan and Jacob Spacek, owners of the Houston-based BLUEorange Contemporary Art Gallery, for winning the most recent Grant for Young Entrepreneurs! Supported with funds provided by the GYE, the sibling pair made a 10-day trip to Seoul and Busan, South Korea, where they attended an international art fair and collected footage for a pilot documentary film, Art Adventures Korea. Along with staff members Ken General and Cassie Skelly, the Spaceks served as ambassadors of the Houston art scene, representing American art at local, state and national levels, and interviewed academics, artists, and public officials to compare and contrast American and Korean art culture.
In addition to emerging officially as international art dealers and providing opportunities for other American artists to break into overseas markets, the BLUEorange staff is now planning a documentary series that will chronicle their investigations around the world in search of unique contemporary art. The Spaceks plan to submit Art Adventures Korea, the first installment in what they expect will be a popular ongoing film project, to film festivals and television agencies around the country. The film is currently in post-production with official release date to be determined. View the trailer on YouTube.
